Introduction to Stage Acting
A six week class for beginners as well as actors with some stage experience who are interested in honing their craft in a supportive, studio laboratory environment. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions. Celebrated husband and wife actor/director/producers Kate Mueth (Founder and Artistic Director, The Neo-Political Cowgirls and Mulford Rep) and Josh Gladstone (former Artistic Director, Guild Hall and co-Founder Hamptons Shakespeare Festival), longtime theater professionals in NYC and on the East End, who met in conservatory at Broadway's Circle In The Square, will guide a weekly 2-hour acting class for up to 14 actors, ages 16 to adult, through a series of play-centered theater games, improvisations, text work, and introduction to vocal and movement exercises. The workshop culminates in a final, public presentation of scene work and monologues in the Theater @ SAC. Evening classes will meet for two hours from 7 - 9 PM on Mondays, May 15, May 22, June 5, June 12, June 19 and the public presentation on June 26.

Josh Gladstone, director, actor, and producer, is the Associate Producer of the Hamptons Festival of Music and an Associate Producer for live events at LTV Studios, as well as producing the recent staged reading of Reel Stories at Bay Street Theater starring Jay O. Sanders and Charlayne Woodard, and the Off Broadway premiere of Michelle Kholos Brook's scathing comedy Hitler's Tasters with New Light Theater Project. He is well known throughout the East End as co-founder of the Hamptons Shakespeare Festival and Artistic Director at Guild Hall’s John Drew Theater where he served from 2000 - 2021.
Kate Mueth, actor, choreographer, director, and founder of The Neo-Political Cowgirls - an immersive dance/theater company with roots in East Hampton and performances in NYC and internationally - is dedicated to explorations of devised theatre’s potential as a tool of empowerment for women and BIPOC artists. Forthcoming: The Neo-Political Cowgirls’ production of A Midsummer’s Night Dream (As Seen Through the Sleepy Eyes of a Young Girl) directed by Kate Mueth at the Here Arts Center (NYC) April 18 - May 7, 2023. Kate also serves as the Education Director of The Hamptons International Film Festival.
